"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
-George S. Patton, U.S. Army General, 1912 Olympian

Start Training

I am setting up this blog so I can more easily hold myself accountable for my running.
According the the running schedule I found on line to train for a half marathon, it has me resting on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Not sure if this is too much rest but we will see how it goes. It also says that I need to be able to run two miles without walking in order to keep up with the schedule. So that was my first goal. I have run a few times in the last couple months, but nothing consistent.
So, Monday was my official start training day!

MONDAY: Ran-walked the graveyard twice. Each time around is a little over a mile.
TUESDAY: Rest
WEDNESDAY: Ran a little over two miles and didn't stop!!! Forgot to put Trav's watch on, so no timing, but I know it was faster than Monday. I would estimate it was about 16 minutes.

Trav ordered me a nice running watch so it should be here soon!
Tomorrow I plan to run 2.5 -3 miles.
Right now I have just been running the graveyard. I am going to sit down with Trav this weekend and figure out an official training schedule and look for routes that will help me train for my upcoming runs.

It hasn't been long but I sure feel motivated to train every morning. Probably because I don't want to make a complete fool out of my self. I am determined to do this, even though it is not my idea of fun!
