"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
-George S. Patton, U.S. Army General, 1912 Olympian

25 min week

This week when I run I am running for 25 min straight. Next week is 30. The week after that is training. I just need to know that I can consistently run for 30 minutes straight again before I start training. Today I ran 25. It felt pretty good. I felt like I could just keep going. I didn't because I don't want to push anything. I ran 2 miles in 19 min 21 seconds. Then I just ran until it was 25 min. My watch didn't have anymore memory to store any laps after 2 miles. My knee is not having any troubles, probably because I have been doing good with the stretching after I run!

Up and Running Again!

I finally started running again...after almost two years! It is a lot harder starting up after taking so much time off and after having a baby. My body is different and it works and responds differently. I also have some interesting issues (almost a year later!) from the difficult delivery that make running somewhat uncomfortable and frustrating but it's not disabling so I deal with it. My knee has not experienced a lot of discomfort. I am making sure to take things nice and slow and to stretch well after running. I signed up for a half marathon with my mom that is in August in farmington. So I have a while to train.
It's been nice to live so close to the byu idaho gym. I got a free spouse card so that I can go run on the track and use the gym any time. I really like the facilities but I can't wait till it is warm again so that I can run outside. I have worked up so that I can run for 20 minutes straight easily. Next week I will be running 30 minutes straight and then begin a training program.
Today I was able to run two miles easily. First mile 9:38, second mile 9:34. It was work, but it felt good and I could have kept running. I really am so happy to be running again!
